R.I.P. Bob Wormington

Over the weekend, Bob Wormington passed away. You may not have heard his name before but those in broadcasting have. He was a pioneer in television, working for WDAF in the fifties and then starting an independent station, KBMA TV 41. Most of the television I watched growing up was on TV 41. Bob was family and opened his home to us every year at Christmas to spend time with cousins I wouldn’t have known otherwise. Not many know that he was a pilot and owned a home in Ireland that he also opened up to us every time we made a trip back to the old sod. My thoughts go out to his incredible wife, Kareen, and the rest of his family and mine.

The world is a better place because of the legacy of openness, generosity, and love left by Bob Wormington.

Bob Wormington was my grandfather and an extraordinary man. His memory will live on in the thousands of people he touch during his incredible life. His family has put together a ShutterFly site to commemorate him. He is loved by all his family and will be missed severly.

Well said, Vince. Bob was one in a million.

Sharon, one of your cousins you might never have known
